Commutiny, The Youth Collective (CYC) is an organization working towards consolidating a learning space for organisations to debate, discuss and develop a shared understanding on youth development and active citizenship and create a common advocacy agenda through the use of alternate and mainstream media. It also aims at building youth leadership by enhancing focus on youth and youth development issues among all stakeholders and bringing youth voices to the mainstream. It directly supports 30 young leaders every year to undertake a leadership and learning journey for personal and social transformation experiments on the ground across the country.
We believe
In India, a growing democracy with a complex and diverse society, the challenge before us it to ensure that the huge cohort of youth becomes a vibrant, constructive force that shapes a more just, equitable and non violent world.
This can happen when
· We invest suitably in the development of youth in all spheres such that they are able to take on different roles along their life cycle with commitment and link to the world and deliver their responsibility as better students, lovers, workers, parents, entrepreneurs, community leaders, role models, change agents.
· We make young people equal stakeholders in determining how youth development needs to be defined in today’s globalised world.
· We acknowledge that youth development cannot be looked at in isolation from the larger social issues that surround young people and contribute majorly in shaping their identity
